WHAT IS ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

Alexander Technique (AT) is a method of psychophysical reeducation, developed and introduced to the world by FM Alexander.

What does that mean?

From being a human on the planet for as long as you have, you've developed habits of movement, mostly unthinking, mostly not great. These habits cause undue tension and pain and compromise your quality of life. Alexander Technique can help you to first, become aware of habits you don't even know you have, and second, reeducate your body to move through the world as it was originally intended.

HOW DOES THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE WORK

During each lesson, the teacher leads the student through a series of movements, or procedures, that identify the student's deeply ingrained physical habits and gently challenge the student's thinking.

Over the course of many lessons, the student learns to unwind those habits, leaving space for the body's natural and structural intelligence to emerge.  It is a process of undoing.  It produces both freedom and appropriate tension within the system.

WHY DO ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
